A rap artist and poet express Gazan reality

Dear friends,

We continue to be horrified with each day’s news about the inhumanity of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza. This is simply – as I say at each of our Protest Tuesdays – not simply an assault on Gaza, but also an assault on Palestinian culture, Palestine history, an attempt to erase the very idea of Palestine itself.

We take hope from the Palestinian people themselves – their resilience, their continued resistance, their faith in the ideals of morality and humanity.

Take four minutes to listen and be moved by these two pieces of art that exemplify their sumud. Then let them imprint themselves upon your heart to find ways to stand with the people of Palestine during these days. They need our solidarity, our voices, our support now more than ever. We stand with the people of Gaza! We stand with the people of Palestine.

The first, Zeina Azzam, poet laureate of Alexandria reads her poem, “Write My Name on My Leg.” https://www.facebook.com/gshagler/videos/653040910372409

The second, young rapper, MC Abdul, from Gaza, now 15 – “Shouting At The Wall.” https://youtu.be/l8qay1Al7Dc?si=Vx5–B9K9W0enQKB
